ABOUT

The Nostalgia of Home.

Our Story

For the Folkvord family, Montana has always been more than a place on the map—it’s where our story has unfolded, season after season. What began in the wheat fields of the Gallatin Valley grew into a legacy shaped by care, community, and the quiet pride of creating something lasting. From those early days with Wheat Montana to our family’s journey into hospitality, each endeavor has been rooted in the same heartfelt intention: to make people feel at home.

When sisters Hillary and Haylee began to dream of welcoming travelers to spaces that carried both comfort and character, our family’s story took on new life. The restoration of The Sacajawea Hotel and the creation of the RSVP Motel and Farmer’s Daughters Eatery became love letters to Montana’s spirit—proof that warmth, good food, and gathering together never go out of style.

Now, we find ourselves back where it all began—surrounded by the hum of nature, the soft sway of the Swan River, and the familiar rhythm of family. The Cottages at Bigfork are a continuation of our story, woven with nostalgia and new beginnings. This is where our roots meet renewal—a place built from the heart, meant to be shared, remembered, and returned to.

About The Cottages

Tucked along the Swan River, The Cottages at Bigfork offer a place where time slows and comfort comes easy. Once known as Bridge Street Cottages, this heirloom retreat has been a beloved stay for nearly two decades—welcoming travelers with warmth, charm, and a touch of nostalgia.

Each of our thirteen cottages is thoughtfully designed, from riverside hideaways to wooded retreats, all carrying the quiet beauty of Montana living. Just steps from downtown Bigfork, you’ll find yourself close to cozy cafes, local shops, and endless outdoor adventure—from summer hikes and lake days to winter skiing and fireside evenings.

Here, life unfolds simply. Mornings start with the sound of the river, evenings end beneath pine shadows and golden light. The Cottages are more than a place to stay—they’re a place to rest, reconnect, and feel the familiar pull of coming home.
